IVAGO opts for optimal communication

IVAGO is known as the Intermunicipal Association for Waste Management in Ghent and its surroundings. In addition to collecting regular household waste, IVAGO also takes responsibility for keeping public roads clean. With six recycling parks under their management, there was a need for a renewed communication approach. Through our proposal, Play AV had the opportunity to provide a customized solution for IVAGO.

Need for more communication in the recycling parks & at the headquarters

In the past, communication with park visitors was done through an LED panel, considered the smaller equivalent of an LED wall. However, this LED panel no longer met IVAGO's contemporary requirements. The aim was to elevate communication with the population to a higher level. A solution was sought collaboratively with the following criteria:

Easy to control and user-friendly
Implementation of the association's visual identity
Suitable for sending multiple communications simultaneously
Visually reinforcing messages, including sorting instructions, job vacancies, campaigns, and advice

It was quickly decided to opt for an LED wall, an investment that was sustainable with easy usability..

At the headquarters, there was also a desire to communicate more with the staff.

"Our communication department had long worked with internal mailing, but these emails mainly reached our office workers and not our field staff. So, a new solution was needed to inform our workers about internal communications." explains Andy Leclercq, Head of IT and Systems at IVAGO.

This internal problem was addressed by investing in digital signage. Various displays have been placed in the dining areas, at the entrance, and at the starting points, showing internal information such as daily schedules, announcements of internal events, and statistics related to the low number of work accidents.

Collaboration with Play AV

Steenoven’s Outstanding Westwing Tower

Steenoven has been active in the creation, development and realisation of real estate in West and East Flanders for many years. With a wide range of projects such as residential buildings, offices, student accommodation, assisted living, hotels and SME zones, they are a leading player in the sector.

Together with sister company Alheembouw, their most striking project will soon be completed: the Outstanding Westwing Tower in Roeselare. A luxurious office tower where innovation and architectural splendour come together. Thanks to the 12 spacious floors, the 360-degree view and the BREEAM certificate, this office tower belongs to the absolute top in terms of modern office experience in the heart of West Flanders.

The importance of innovative AV technology

When designing the Westwing Tower, it was important for Steenoven to invest in audiovisual solutions.

Geert van Mol - CEO Steenoven - explains to us why: "Digital operation creates efficiency. Digital efficiency is relevant to be able to grow in an effective way. In addition, digital signage ensures that our projects are beautifully portrayed. Well-integrated and beautiful audiovisual equipment is part of a top office experience we want to offer."

In addition, the requirements include an aesthetically pleasing solution without visible cables and uprights, with modern and functional technology. For Steenoven, investing in innovative AV technology is crucial to achieve digital efficiency and appearance.

Brainstorming tools and all-in-one video conferencing in the meeting rooms

In the meeting rooms, a Logitech Rally bar and Samsung Flip were chosen. Steenoven has long been convinced that these solutions boost meetings with collaboration partners such as architects, study firms, notaries and investment partners.

The choice of Samsung Flips in various meeting rooms is motivated by its modern and integrated approach, which fits with the high-end office experience Steenoven strives for.

"For us, a classic flipchart on three legs no longer belongs in a high-end office experience. Taking a picture of it afterwards to save it is a bit old-fashioned, while we work in Teams in the cloud for the rest... Also, manual flips, which are flipped to the other side, are not an example of discretion for us. So away with dirty pens and welcome to the digital version integrated with our Teams cloud." Geert Van Mol - CEO Steenoven - tells us.

The flagship on the 12th floor

The boardroom is the showpiece of the 12th floor, designed for high-end meetings with breathtaking views. In this room, a Logitech PTZ camera, a Sennheiser soundbar, ... From the first sight, the meeting room exudes class, including the audiovisual integration to even the wireless microphones.

Various purposes of the multipurpose room

The multipurpose room acts as Steenoven's 'living room' and is used for relaxed lunches, making contacts with partners, inspiring sessions, informal meetings and even the occasional party. The choice of professional lighting and wireless microphones with control panel in this space is based on ease of use and the ability to demonstrate projects, videos and sound without complications.

Videoconferencing as a future-oriented choice

The choice of video conferencing in meeting rooms at Quaestor stems from the expectation that their digital meetings will increase in the future. Both aesthetic and functional considerations led to the choice of the Logitech MeetUp in smaller meeting rooms and the Biamp Parlé VBC in the large meeting room. The solutions are being used more frequently than initially expected. Although efficiency gains with customer communications have not yet been fully realised, Quaestor is optimistic about future improvements.

Projection for the multi-purpose room

The choice of an ultra short throw projector in the multipurpose room was dictated by the size of the room and the number of people who could attend the meeting here. and the presence of glass. The concrete structure of the building required this specific projection technology. The automatically retractable projection screen ensures that the office view is maintained when the room is not being used for meetings. The projection in the multipurpose room is often used, especially when presenting large Excel files, where the large screen allows clear display of figures.

The multipurpose room is heavily used for weekly meetings with relationship and portfolio managers, as well as for internal events. This room offers the necessary capacity that the other meeting rooms do not have.

Stock exchange prices

The choice of displays in the offices at Quaestor is aimed at displaying stock market prices i.e. facilitating professional communication.

Rooftop box Kastaar is used for a variety of events ranging from business meetings and presentations to workshops and networking events. Play AV's versatile AV solutions have made this event venue suitable for a wide range of occasions.

Welcome to KAS

Initiators Abicon and Sonar Architects both have their own offices in the KAS building. Welcoming visitors and informing them of the correct destination was done by means of welcome displays. A Zebrix central control system was chosen for this.

The Kastaar founders chose various solutions for the rooftop box. The audio integration and mobile displays were both provided with central control.

A mobile all-in-one videoconferencing solution for Hotel Serwir

Hotel Serwir was founded in November 1966 by Joseph Serwir. After years of success, the hotel was transferred to the Vermeersch family, founders of Stars of Flanders. This Hotel Holding loves innovation, so it expanded from 37 rooms to no less than 78 rooms.

Hotel Serwir is located in Sint-Niklaas in a central location near the E17 motorway. The hotel's strength is its welcoming and friendly atmosphere.

Guests needed hybrid meeting solutions

After the corona period, the hotel increasingly received requests for hybrid meeting facilities. However, the use of a traditional beamer and cables caused constant problems. In addition, the room setup often changed, and the beamer was difficult to hide.

A mobile all-in-one videoconference solution

Hotel Serwir's goal was for the client to make their meetings run more smoothly and content sharing easier. In addition to this, the clients wanted to be able to work wirelessly and have live meetings without problems. Audiovisual Consultant Mathieu Seghers of Play AV identified Hotel Serwir's needs and proposed a mobile all-in-one videoconferencing solution. This solution consists of the following components:

Implementation process and possible challenges

"At first, we had to figure out the best way to introduce the new solution to our customers. It was quickly noticed that some customers had to enter a password when installing new software. Once this was in order, working with the Barco ClickShare went very smoothly" Sabine, Sales Manager at Hotel Serwir tells us.

In order to ensure a smooth meeting, the hotel now sends an e-mail regarding the Barco ClickShare registration in advance, which makes the pre-installation run smoothly and prevents any problems just before the customer's presentation.

User experience

The wireless meeting system with the Barco ClickShare has improved meetings and collaboration at Hotel Serwir. Compared to the previous solution, they now experience an improvement in the convenience of wireless conferencing.

Smooth collaboration thanks to the interactive touchscreen Flip

To promote internal collaboration, several 65-inch Samsung Flip displays were chosen centrally in the rooms. These are interactive touchscreens used as brainstorming tools. They also have a built-in document viewer that makes it easy to import and edit files.

Milan op 't Roodt - Audiovisual Solution Architect at Play AV tells us the following: "I work closely with our Audiovisual Consultants. When a project is drawn out technically, I always hold a short brainstorm on the Flip. We easily take notes on this to work smoothly and efficiently!"

Comfortable working thanks to the MX Master 3S

As AV experts, we think it is important to extend our ergonomic way of working down to the smallest details. Our everyday work tools were replaced with a more ergonomic version.

We chose the Logitech MX Master 3S mice, the wireless Signature K650 keyboards, Zone Wired Headsets and Brio 505 webcams.

The silhouette of the computer mouse was designed to provide the palm and fingers with the necessary support. The keyboard also includes an integrated hand rest. The Zone Wired Headset features advanced, noise-canceling microphone technology.

ESC's new HQ is ready for tomorrow's technology

Since its founding in 1999, the Belgian company ESC has grown into a well-known total solution provider in the ICT sector. At the end of January, their 260 IT experts moved to the new headquarters in Sint-Denijs-Westrem. Play AV was given the opportunity to make this new, modern workplace meet the latest requirements of hybrid working.

A new era with hybrid working

The digital acceleration brought about by corona has brought us into a new era of working.

CEO Benny Van Hyfte is happy to tell us his views on this:
"In the ICT sector, it is an absolute necessity to be innovative. This includes having our own systems keep up with today's technology, and be ready for tomorrow's technology.

Today, employees come to the office to work together, but hybrid working has rightly claimed its place. It used to be normal to come together physically for a meeting, but today a lot of activities happen remotely. However, you expect the same experience as a physical meeting and therefore a quality infrastructure is necessary."

Solutions with innovative technology

Several Logitech Rally solutions, Samsung displays and Epson projection were chosen in this project.

The Rally solutions are compact, but deliver a good experience both in sound and vision. This solution also incorporated innovative technology. Another plus to this solution is its expandability. For example, additional microphones, cameras, etc. can be added for an even better experience.

Teams is more than just chat and video conferencing

Online conferencing is here to stay. Microsoft previously told us that Teams has more than 270 million monthly active users. Where 2 hours used to be set aside for a meeting, we now count at most one hour. Besides saving time, a digital meeting also reduces your carbon footprint.

ESC has been integrating this Teams solution for corona at its customers for quite some time. ICT expert ESC tells us that the power of this application is much greater than just chat and videoconferencing solutions. You can link this solution perfectly with other business applications and integrate it with your telephony.

"I would love to find an example of a type of meeting that we never organize through Teams, but I'm going to have to disappoint you. I can't find a single example of a meeting we don't hold via video conferencing." CEO ESC Benny Van Hyfte tells us.

A new, fun dynamic at ESC

ESC employees had been looking forward to the new meeting facilities for some time. In fact, Benny tells us more: "We are even finding that employees are coming to the office to hold Teams meetings with clients, where previously people would call in individually. The experience and collaboration involved make for a very fun dynamic in the organization."
