Dispatching innovation for Antwerp Fire Brigade Zone
Antwerp Fire Brigade Zone has about 700 operational professional firefighters. They are responsible for basic tasks, but each firefighter also has his or her own specialisation. Antwerp Fire Brigade Zone protects three municipalities: Antwerp, Wijnegem and Zwijndrecht.
New signal room
For more than 10 years, the dispatching room at the North post has been the beating heart of the fire zone. The Antwerp Fire Brigade Zone has recently acquired a completely new signal room, equipped with all kinds of technological innovations.
The entire fire brigade zone is controlled from the signal room. Important information is given to the emergency vehicles on the way to the scene and the dispatching of interventions also takes place in the signal room.
The Antwerp Fire Brigade decided to implement new technologies in this area, as they receive many different information flows every day. It is therefore very important to get this information to the signal room supervisors in a structured way.
Barco OpSpace
In the renovation project of the new signal rooms, the Fire Brigade Zone chose Barco OpSpace because the dispatching solution allows them to control everything with just one mouse and keyboard. The application ensures that information flows can be easily centralized among the signalmen. The signal room can now also easily transmit images to the crisis room, so the two now work much better together.
In this way, they can control interventions more smoothly and everything can be displayed on one screen. Barco OpSpace is also very scalable, allowing them to easily add or hide resources.
An ergonomic investment with the CREON desks
The signal room is manned 24 hours a day, so it is important to invest in ergonomic solutions. The space consists of 4 ergonomic desks because 4 signal room attendants are present each time. The multi-functionality of the CREON Desk makes it possible to conceal the technical equipment at the bottom of the desks. This is in line with the clean desk principle of Antwerp Fire Brigade.
